Most people have grand expectations for their own wedding day; hoping their moment in the spotlight resembles something out of a fairy tale. Making this happen, though, can be a stressful ordeal. This stress comes from the fact that there are millions of little things that need to be taken care of. Even more, there a lot of things that can go wrong. Being prepared is essential.
Here are a few things that will make your big day easier, so you can enjoy it to the utmost (and hopefully achieve that fairy-tale feeling).
1. A Wedding Coordinator/Planner
Organizing a wedding is a huge undertaking. You may have a grand vision about the food and venue, but trust us — a wedding planner will make your life easier.
Spare yourself the headache of organizing an elaborate wedding alone – work in conjunction with a professional wedding planner and make your life easier. They’re trained, experienced, and ready to handle anything unexpected that may pop up. You’re still the boss, but now you have a pro to divert things to when the need arises.
2. Keepsake Wrangler
They’re not merely trinkets or souvenirs. Keepsakes from your wedding are treasures to your family and closest loved ones. Some of them will even get passed down from generation to generation; giving beautiful physical reminders to future offspring that their family’s history is one filled with love.
To ensure that none get left behind, appoint someone you trust to collect them following the ceremony and reception. Make sure it’s a person who can deliver them to you at a later date (so preferably someone who you’re around often, like a family member).
3. Spare Pair of Flats
Your feet ache just looking at those glamorous wedding heels. Deep down, you know that you’ll want out of them as quickly as possible. Short of running around the foyer barefoot after the ceremony, what’s a tired bride to do? Easy – keep a pair of flats handy! Between the aisle and dancing, your feet will need every break they can get – take care of your body so you can enjoy the celebration late into the night!
It’s a good idea to bring multiple pairs of flats and leave them at different locations or with different people. That way you’re sure to locate some when you’re ready!
4. Personalized Stamps
Writing out your wedding invitations can be a surprisingly strenuous process. Some soon-to-be brides end up writing their address so many times they could do it in their sleep. What if a mistake popped up and you needed to start it all over again? This is exactly the type of scenario that could cause you unneeded stress.
Personalized stamps are a great solution. Besides being significantly more efficient, address stamps are also stylish and come in a wide array of designs. Don’t over-exert yourself on providing handwritten wedding invitations (unless that’s your thing, then by all means go for it!).
5. Undergarments Sewn Into Your Dress
With all its graceful beauty and emotional significance, the bridal grown also presents a frustrating dilemma. What is there to do about unwanted panty lines? What about bras? Bra straps can distract from your neckline, your bust – your entire image! Is there an easy answer?
One option is to ask your seamstress to sew your undergarments into your dress. No bunching, no lines, no riding up and pulling down – achieve a new level of comfort and a smooth, sexy silhouette.
If you prefer to keep lingerie on, there are plenty of other options for you to explore.
6. Interesting snacks for the reception
Sometimes, the lull between acts can be longer than expected. You don’t want guests to stand around, bored and anxious to get on with the show. Give them a delicious distraction — some exotic, fresh snacks & some delightful themed wedding drinks should do the trick!
Include a variety of easy-to-eat finger foods to help satiate any hungry bellies. There are many interesting snack options out there — Do a little research and you’ll sure to find something that works for you and your soon-to-be spouse.
Give yourself a pat on the back — by reading this, you’re already ahead of the game. Wedding planning takes some effort (and usually numerous checklists to make sure you cover everything), but at the end of the day it’s still all in the name of love. Enjoy yourself, and best of luck in the days ahead!
