A Vintage-Inspired Wedding

Bride & Groom: Rebecca Crowley & Jonathan Shallow
Bride Wore: Dominique Daniela
Groom Wore: Joseph A. Bank
Wedding Location: Hackensack, NJ (Courthouse)

The Dress

I met Dominique (the wedding dress designer) through work and was impressed with her designs. I had seen the image of the bubble dress and it was the first thing that came to mind when I decided on a courthouse wedding. I needed a short dress, and a vintage inspired dress was my dream. I knew if I described my vision to Dominique she would make it happen. I described the pill-box hat and she designed it to a tea. She advised me on accessories as well. Dominique emanated style, and she made my vision a reality—all custom-made.

The Accessories

I followed Dominique’s advice. She recommended I go with all gold accessories, which I did. I wanted something sentimental, so I went with gold chandelier earrings from Nordstrom, which were so ornate that I didn’t need a necklace. And I borrowed some gold bangles from a friend. The dress and accessories were understated but elegant. I simply had a vision for the shoes—d’orsay (Nordstrom) was what I wanted. My bag was a metal gold clutch. The florist (Flowers by Lynn) was in the perfect location, and I had a perfect experience with them. I did not know much about flowers. I picked my purple and they chose the perfect fillers and made the bouquet just my size. They even added gold ribbon to boot!

The Groom

The groom went with classic attire. He believed he should look elegant but let the bride shine. His 1940’s vintage inspired cufflinks came from a mail-order online store out of Iowa called Collector’s Index. We chose bright colors for his tie and boutineer so that it will “pop” against the bridal flowers.

The Engagement Ring

I got my ring from Gold Ray Jewelers in Hackensack, NJ. The company is run by family jewelers Trudy and John. I fell in love with the setting immediately. Trudy found it for me. We were using a family diamond from my husband’s grandfather’s pinkie ring (this is dating back) and it was set in a vintage setting with a matching vintage-inspired band.
