Comfortable Wedding Shoes
When it came time to look for my wedding shoes, I knew two things: they needed to be comfortable and they needed to be blue. As you may have realized by now, I like things that can be worn more than once. I figured if I got typical white bridal shoes, I wouldn’t wear them again, but comfortable blue shoes that I could dance the night away in and then don afterward, that was what I was looking for.
I love cute high heels and have a closet full of them, but they tend to hurt my feet once I have actually paid money for them, left the store and worn them outside. While in my bedroom getting ready, I’m still deluded that the shoes are comfortable and that I’ll be able to wear them all night long with no problems. Unfortunately, I’ve walked the city streets barefoot way too many times with shoes in hand and have come to realize that heels and I don’t mix…especially if I have to actually walk anywhere in them.
So, for my wedding I bought a cute pair of Steve Madden sandals (flats!), but then decided to get a pair of heels for the ceremony. Since I was getting married outside, I wanted a little extra height (after my dress was altered while wearing my flats) so that the dress wouldn’t drag on the ground. I tried on whole stores worth of blue shoes and finally found a pair of Steve Madden (coincidence!) espadrilles that were comfortable and cute. I even wore them again on my honeymoon and a few times since.

Well, I recently heard about Cole Haan’s new Nike Air bridal line. The Cole Haan Nike Air line has been around since 2006, but I have yet to try on a pair (I’ll have to remedy that!). According to others, though, they are heaven for your feet. How could they not be? They are heels that have Nike Air technology (the same thing as in the sneakers) built in.

Of course you’ll have to pay for the privilege of a shoe that manages to combine comfort and beauty. The eight styles (above) in the bridal line range in price from $298 to $428. But for the look of a cute heel and the comfort of sneakers, maybe that’s not too much to pay. And, as an added bonus, Cole Haan apparently has a dye-to-black service, which will let you wear your wedding shoes long after you’ve taken that first step down the aisle.
If you’re looking for something a little (okay, a lot…although I guess it depends on how much you spend on your shoes) cheaper, try slipping a pair of Foot Petals in whatever shoes you choose. It’s not Nike Air, but it should get you through a night on the dance floor.
