Bargain Wedding Dress Finds
I love a good bargain, so when I read about this woman who got her wedding dress for $5, I decided to see what other great deals (or steals) brides have found.
This is the dress that Angie found. In addition to the dress, she got a matching jacket and veil for $5 at a used-clothing warehouse in Montreal.

After some searching, I found this bride who bid £2.50 for a custom Chinese-made dress on eBay. It was quite a steal, even with the extra £16.50 for shipping and £4.50 for a petticoat, but the best part was it an exact copy of the out-of-her-budget £1,500 dress she’d fallen in love with.

Even Kyra Sedgwick’s The Closer character, Brenda Leigh Johnson got in on the bargain wedding dress action. For the season finale Brenda wore a vintage boat neck silk taffeta wedding gown by Priscilla of Boston that costume designer Greg Lavoi bought off of eBay for $29.

So, after reading these stories, I decided to see what deals I could find myself. Here are some dresses I found on eBay whose auctions ended today. This Pronovias gown supposedly retails for $1,660. Some lucky bride scored it for $50 (plus $25 for shipping).

This House of Bianchi silk wedding gown included a free matching fingertip veil. The winner bid the minimum…$.99 (not including shipping). The original price was listed as $1,800. She got such an amazing deal!

This ivory satin wedding dress has beading on the bodice and matching beading along the hem. The lucky bride paid only $2.25 (plus $25 for shipping). I spend more on my morning coffee and bagel (I don’t need to pay for shipping because I pick it up)!

Then I headed over to Etsy to see what I could find there. I found some really nice dresses for great prices. This beautiful 1970s dress can be yours for only $55.

Here is a form-fitting linen cream vintage dress with intricate detail work that would be perfect for a bride looking for something that’s not the traditional white dress and at $60, it’s a bargain.

This lovely white Mexican wedding dress with see-through crochet detailing around the neck, waist and on the skirt could be had for only $80. Some lucky person had already snatched it up, though, as it was listed as being on hold. I could picture this dress on a bride who’s having a casual outdoor summer wedding.

And, finally, there was this vintage 1960s lace crochet pleated dress for $55.

I took a quick look on craigslist as well, and found that, if you’re in the LA area, you could pretty much outfit yourself and two bridesmaids for $75. The wedding gown is by Christina Wu and the two ’maids dresses are Michaelangelo from David’s Bridal.

So, I only spent one day looking, but I think I found a variety of pretty dresses at great prices. Imagine what you’d be able to find if you spent a little more time looking. You might just find the dress of your dreams for a bargain.

I love that first dress!
Can you believe she found it for only $5? It looks gorgeous on her and suits her perfectly. If only we could all be so lucky.
My bridesmaid dresses were coral cocktail dresses from Talbots c.1994. They cost $8 each. I gave them to my attendants.
I found another British bride who got a great bargain on eBay. Here is a link to the article:
