Star-Studded Wedding Dresses Style
Right From The Red Carpet
By Jewelry and Style Expert, Michael O’Connor
As you probably know, weddings are not merely a “spring affair”, they happen all year round. If you are getting married in the spring, however, now is the perfect time to start thinking about buying wedding dresses and targeting your wedding style. Experts agree that you should check this off your list 6 – 9 month prior to your big day. Unfortunately, at this time of year many of your inspirational media sources may be concentrating on holiday looks. Thanks to Wedding Dresses magazine and Engagement 101, however, you’ll always have a steady stream of wedding dress ideas. Another great source for wedding dresses trends, specifically if you’d love to channel a little celebrity style on your wedding day is to take notice of what’s being worn on awards show red carpets. September treated us to the red carpet of the 63rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and with it, trends that are easily adapted to a spring wedding.
Bobs with loose curls

Overall the trend at the Emmy’s veered toward a casual elegance that was epitomized by very few tight updo’s and more casual free-flowing locks. Christina Hendricks, Colbie Smulders and Aubrey Plaza looked youthful and elegant in volumized bobs with loose curls.
Straight hair

Celebrities such as Lea Michele, Gwenyth Paltrow and Nina Dobrev chose longer simple looks with straight hair or loose curls.
Natural shades makeup

Makeup was fresh and young with neutral and natural shades and lighter nude or pink lips. The attention went to heavier eye treatment with longer lashes and more prominent liner. Brides looking to keep the look light, young and fresh will love the ease and simplicity of this trend.
Gemstone-hued gowns

The Emmy Awards red carpet this September also showed us some stellar wedding-worthy gowns, designed by some of the most renowned names in bridal couture. While the most popular color on this year’s red carpet seemed to be red, a veritable rainbow of gemstone-hued gowns was seen. Designers like Vera Wang and Ramona Keveza were extremely visible on the red carpet dressing celebrities with rich colors that would be perfectly suited in wedding white.
Actress Sophia Vergara looked like a goddess in her custom Vera Wang coral colored one-shoulder gown with chiffon and tulle draping. Picture that in white! Women with a few curves look great in this style that shows off a waistline and adds a little more roundness to hips. The one-shoulder style is very elegant and draws your eye from the outer part of the shoulder, down to the waist, then back out along the lines of the skirt.
Women who wish to give the illusion of more curves might consider the white version of the black Ramona Keveza gown worn by Michelle Forbes. The stunning strapless style accentuates the bust area and adds fullness to the hips with a fluted skirt of ruffles. If you love the idea of adding color to your wedding allow your bridesmaid to choose from a palette of colors that work for your wedding theme but will allow them to easily wear their gowns again.
Large looks: single bracelets, chandelier style earrings and diamond bow pin

Accessories focused on large looks but simple styling in colors that created impact and drama. Other than Jane Lynch we saw very few of the multiple bangle stacks that we’ve seen over the past number of years. Single bracelets of sufficient size were favored instead – a look that is much better suited to wedding style than a wide stack of bracelets. Jewelry of the red carpet was more statement this year with larger chandelier style earrings making a comeback. The most spectacular single statement earring was Sophia Vergara’s huge Columbian emerald and diamond pair. However, several celebrities such as Jane Lynch, Heidi Klum and Aimee Teegarden rocked the statement earring trend beautifully. Wedding dresses with simple bodice treatment and less top beading work beautifully with the larger earring trend.

Actress Jayma Mays from Glee did something unique that we haven’t seen in the past few seasons, a diamond bow pin being used in her hair – particularly suited to an elegant wedding look.
Emmy rings

Major rings also took center stage in celebrity couture, both in bright colors and in simple white diamonds. Heidi Klum wore a blackened platinum ring, to match her earrings, with fire opal, amethyst and colored diamonds. Lea Michele wore a large ruby and diamond ring. Both pieces were by Lorraine Schwartz. And when it came to white rings, fueling wedding rumors right from the carpet was Julianne Hough in a Forevermark 16 carat oval diamond set into white gold, designed by Julius Klein. The jaw-dropping statement ring had viewers speculating on whether she was giving the ultimate hint to boyfriend Ryan Seacrest.
If you’re planning a wedding in spring of 2012 now is the perfect time to start to finalize your overall look and to make some serious choices on your wedding gown. So take some tips on trends from ladies who walk the red carpet, and give your wedding day some star-studded style. As for Julianne and Ryan, I guess we’ll have to wait for the announcement to see if she was successful!
