Angel Sanchez Spring 2013 Wedding Dresses Collection

April 26th, 2012 by juliette

Angel Sanchez wedding dresses are somewhat minimalistic yes so sophisticated. Subtle details adorn garments with amazing cuts and shapes. This collection looked magical with glowing and shimmering dresses. We also loved the headbands and dangling earrings.

5 Stunning One-Shoulder Wedding Dresses

December 1st, 2010 by admin

–Monica Cotto, Luxury Style Expert

Seemingly taking their cues from the Ready-To-Wear fashion runways and the plethora of celebrity paparazzi shots, designers have showcased an abundance of one-shoulder wedding dresses during the most recent bridal market, garnering much attention from editors and buyers alike. The looks ranged from strapless, ethereal gowns with strategically placed fabric that evoked images of goddesses, to diva dresses with architectural structure and va-va-voom appeal, and romantic gowns with slivers of embroidered lace or flowering appliques that caressed the shoulder.

Whether embracing the traditional notion of one shoulder designs with structured diagonal bodices or opting for the new styles that follow the trend yet still allow you to show off your decolletage, these high drama dresses will have you living out your red-carpet fantasies.

Trend Report: Wedding Dress Sleeves

November 18th, 2010 by admin

–Monica Cotton, Luxury Style Expert

Chances are when you envision a wedding dress, regardless of the silhouette, the image is that of a strapless dress, but that was not always the case. Historically, wedding day styles were dictated by the customs and trends of the day, which generally were demure and covered up. As recently as the 1980s to the mid-1990s, modest wedding gowns with long sleeves, exaggerated shoulders, high necklines and full skirts reigned supreme.

A major trend shift began in the mid to late 1990s when brides began requesting sexier more streamlined looks with plunging V-necks, strapless necklines and sleeveless gowns that showcased bare arms. Once the strapless looks came on the scene, they dominated. During this period, the only designs with sleeves generally were extremely conservative and worn for traditional or religious ceremonies.

Angel Sanchez

Angel Sanchez never disappoints. This superb gown is one part modest with the sleeves and one part daring with a keyhole at the bodice.

The tides seem to be shifting once again. Recent shows feature gowns with all manners of sleeves in varying lengths and styles. Designers now create vintage looks that evoke the style sensibility of different eras ranging from the Jazzy feel of the ’20s and ’30s to the retro glam styles of the ’40s and ’50s.

Also thrown into the mix are modern, fashion forward designs with abstract cuts and details. These new flattering gowns allow the brides to really show off their personal style. They now no longer need to wear cookie cutter princess dresses in order to “look like a bride.”

Monique Lhuillier

The illusion sleeves on this Monique Lhuillier gown allow the bride to cover up yet still have a look that's light and airy with a splash of sparkle.

Temperley of London

With beaded details and triangular cut-outs, Temperley London's design has a funky, Bochic feel.

Jenny Packham

Jenny Packham's designs tend towards Jazz-era glamour and this style beautifully represents that.

5 Most Interesting Celebrity Wedding Dresses of the Past Year

April 15th, 2009 by admin

Since today’s tax day and I have yet to file my taxes, I decided to procrastinate by looking at lavish celebrity weddings from the past year. (Hey, it’s much more fun than filling out tax forms…and I have until midnight to file an extension.) So, here are the five most interesting dresses from the past year in chronological order. Well, at least the most interesting ones that I could find pictures of. And I’m talking decent pictures where you can actually see the dress, not super grainy photos taken with a telephoto lens from 300 feet away by a paparazzo hiding in a bush.

Actress Tia Mowry wed actor Cory Hardrict in an ivory Kevan Hall empire tulle gown. The floral garland of the one-shouldered dress as well as the beautiful draping at the bust are what make Tia’s choice unique.

Actress Jenny Mollen married Jason Biggs for a second time in a strapless chiffon Monique Lhuillier gown that had an asymmetrically draped bodice and a handkerchief hem. I love the draping on the gown, but I’m not really sure I like the lower part of the dress. Although it does look good on her.

Actress Portia de Rossi donned a pale pink grownup tutu custom-designed by Zac Posen when she married comedienne Ellen DeGeneres (who also wore Zac Posen). The backless dress had a ballerina feel, but the blousy halter-top gave the dress an edge rather than seeming princessy.

Actress Roselyn Sanchez wed actor Eric Winter in an unwieldy Angel Sanchez creation which reminded me of Melania Trump’s $100,000 John Galliano dress. Apparently, like Melania, Roselyn had problems walking in her dress as well. It’s a good thing she had a couple of other Angel Sanchez dresses and a tuxedo suit by Xiomara Ferreira to change into throughout the day. I’m not crazy about this dress, but it is definitely interesting.

Singer Fergie (aka Sarah Ferguson) married actor Josh Duhamel wearing a tulle Dolce & Gabbana mermaid gown. The fitted, draped bodice accentuated Fergie’s famous curves and the black and white florets added interest to the bottom of the dress. The gown had a 40-foot train, which I think is a bit much. The dress would have been perfect without the added fabric…it kind of looks like she stepped on something while in the ladies room.

Of them all, Tia Mowry’s choice is my favorite, but I tend to like simple, elegant dresses. Which one do you like best? Was there a celebrity dress from the past year that I should have included?
