Royal Wedding Fashion

The wedding of the decade lived up to its hype. Today (and extremely early in the morning for us Americans) Kate Middleton and Prince William tied the knot in a monumental ceremony people will be talking about for years. Kate Middleton wore a stunningly classic wedding dress by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton.

Although the dress wasn’t as avant guarde as a typical McQueen dress, the look was simple, beautiful and perfect for the princess. The dress reminds us of the wedding dress Grace Kelly wore when she married Prince Rainner III of Monaco.

Kate’s accessories perfectly tied the whole look together. Her tiara was designed by Cartier and originally belonged to the Queen Mother. Her drop diamond earrings were made by Robinson Pelham and were a gift from Kate’s parents.

Classic elegance was the theme for the rest of the wedding party. Here, maid of honor Pippa Middleton leads the wedding party into Westminster Abbey. Her gorgeous white bridesmaid dress, also made by Sarah Burton, could easily have been a wedding dress as well!

The four flower girls, dressed in adorable cream dresses were accompanied by two pageboys who were dressed in traditional dress to match the groom.

Mother of the bride, Carole Middleton, also looked radiant in her gorgeous blue coat dress by Catherine Walker.

This is the type of gown I imagined she would wear, similar to Princess Grace- a prediction that came through. The train was nicely layered but could have been proportionately longer. Kate made an astoundingly beautiful bride, a modern example of what a modern princess should look like. Love the fact that all bridesmaid and flower girls wore the same colour as well to tie it all together!.
