The Pick-Up Bustle Won’t Let You Down: Pouf Up Your Wedding Dress
We are not talking about your daddy’s or boyfriend’s pick-up trucks, we are talking about wedding dresses. The pickup a.k.a bustle on a wedding dress adds clouds of volume and drama to your skirt.
Usually, a pickup bustle is put in a wedding dress in the back to allow the bride to dance for the reception. Two of the most popular types of pickup bustles are the Over Bustle and the Under Bustle. The over bustle picks up your train off the floor and hooks it to your waist; and the Under Bustle or French Bustle does the opposite. Brides who don’t want a lot of volume in their wedding dress skirt, prefer the over bustle because it usually allows the fabric to lay flatter than a puffy Under Bustle.
Brides, don’t be afraid of a lot of pickups on a wedding dress, it makes your waist look smaller! Also, today’s designers have learned to make pickups out of light fabrics that give you the appearance of floating down the aisle. Organza pickups add soft puffs to your wedding dresses’ skirt, while satin pickups more bulbous puffs to your skirt.
Wearing pickups in a dress that you would wear to the store would garner snickers, your wedding day is one of the only times we girls will be able to wear an extravagant dress with loads of pickups. We selected a few of the many wedding dresses in our dress gallery with pretty pickups!
