TLC’s “Jersey Brides” Go to Bijou Bridal!
Route 17, the shopping heaven for Jersey in Bergen county. Serious shoppers can rest assured that their fashion sense doesn’t have to be left behind when they get married if the stop at Bjiou Bridal which is on the north side of Route 17. Owners Julie and her sister Joyce own the upscale bridal boutique that houses some of the world’s most beautiful dresses. If you can’t travel it to their jersey store, they have stores in Pennsylvania and Hawaii. Their new TV show on TLC, Jersey Brides lets us watch all of the drama and fun a Jersey bride will have while planning her big fat jersey wedding! Wedding Dresses Magazine couldn’t wait to talk to Julie, co-owner of Bijou Bridal, about why they love New Jersey and their brides.

How are Jersey Brides style unique from Pennsylvania and Hawaiian brides?
The stereotypical “Jersey Bride” is a confident, strong woman who is very comfortable in her own skin. She wants it all! Compared to our PA and Hawaiian brides, we find that our Jersey brides definitely want more of the glitz and glamor. She wants a dramatic dress that will make everyone’s jaw drop when she walks into the room. And of course, she wants as much “bling” as she can get!

Why did you and your sister want to open a bridal boutique?
Hmm…Joyce and I don’t really know the exact events that led us to open up our own bridal shop. I feel like it was almost fate how everything worked out. Our father has been in menswear for 30+ years so we were always around fashion growing up. My father always wanted us to have something for ourselves. Naturally menswear wasn’t exactly exciting to us (we’re girlie girls – my mom always dressed us up when we were young) so our family went on a mission to find something we could really shine in. One day we randomly passed a beautiful space on Route 17 in Paramus (which is now our flagship salon) and thought “Wow, that would be a great space for a bridal shop!” Before we knew it, Bijou Bridal was in the making. We really wanted create an environment that turned gown shopping into a whole experience to be remembered. We wanted to make it a comfortable and fun experience for every type of bride (our shop tries its best to cater to everyone)!
