A Touch of European Style For Your Groom
Stanley Gentlemen offers a great selection of groom accessories that you can purchase online or in exclusive stores. They are made in Italy and come in amazing packaging. Anne Harding, the co-founder, has this to say about current trends.
Are American grooms really interested in fashion?
“I’m so excited to see that men are showing a renewed interest in fashion. I have noticed that ‘accessorizing’ now means more than just donning a tie and basic pocket square — men are coordinating socks* or a scarf to complete a look, especially on their all important wedding day.”
We love your collection, especially the socks…
“Often forgotten, socks are playing a more important, expressive role. A groom should select sock colors that are displayed in his tie or pochette or, better still, select the exact design of sock as his tie!
What are the current trends for grooms?
“In recent months there has been an undeniable wave of black on black on black in men’s fashion, and the black and white combination is always in style for grooms and their groomsmen, but in the months ahead I expect to see more color in accessories: wearing ties, pochettes, cufflinks, scarves and socks in coordinating soft hues or vibrant brights is the simplest and most impressive way to harmonize any outfit. I expect to see bold reds, soft pinks, as well as metallics worked back to dark grey and black.
What piece of advice could you give to grooms getting married in 2011?
“Often times it is easier for a sartorially cautious man to wear color if its in a timeless pattern, so if you are looking to introduce color into your wedding day look, do so with a beautiful bold stripe in silk or a smart tartan in a silk/wool blend. Classic prints such as stripes and plaids work for a range of wedding types and locations and beyond. Wouldn’t it be nice to wear your wedding day tie, socks, cuff-links and pochette again and again?”
