Our friend Debra Moreland, a designer from Paris, has just alerted us about an amazing exhibit in Cincinnati at the Museum of Art. In the exhibit, 50 wedding gowns will be presented spanning from the late 18th century to today. That’s 200 years worth of wedding dresses. Exciting!

With all the buzz about Prince William’s “upcoming” (2012) wedding, one wonders whose dress Kate Middleton will wear? Many UK designers will try to compete for this honor. Kate could think about wearing a modernized version of Diana’s wedding dress. Her fairytale dress was designed in ivory taffeta by Elizabeth and David Emanuel. Looking at the dress and knowing that Kate likes to be elegant and low-key , it might be a little bit too over the top.

It all started with a juice stand in Palm Beach 50 years ago. Lilly, a young New York socialite, had just eloped with Peter Pulitzer and settled in Palm Beach. Looking for a fun hobby, Lilly decided to open a juice stand featuring local citrus. Her business was a hit, but all the squeezing made a mess of her clothes, so Lilly designed a dress to camouflage the stains. The result: a comfortable sleeveless shift made of bright, colorful printed cotton in pink, green, yellow and orange – the Classic Shift.
