Little Black Dresses from Thread Classic
New York Market is fun because we get to travel through different neighborhoods . This morning we went to Chelsea’s Thread Studio to discover the new Spring/Summer 2011 line. Thread silhouettes are always fun and hip, and we loved the black cocktail dress options . Another interesting find were several beautiful affordable wedding dresses in short and long versions. Here are some highlights.

We love the flower and details

Elie Saab Asymmetrical Dress
So we are cheating a little bit today as this fashion show happened in Barcelona, yet all these dresses will be available in Pronovias New York flagship stores and preferred retailers all across the country next year. The spectacular show highlighted stunning dresses with a strong presence of one-shoulder looks. Elie Saab, who dresses many celebrities on the red carpet with glamorous ball gowns, also designs a bridal collection for Pronovias . Here are some of our favorites:

Eugenia Collection Behind The Scenes
It was a bright and sunny morning this Wednesday, and we got to see the first show of New York Bridal Market at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at Columbus Circle. Eugenia’s collections are always timeless with a vintage feel to them. This collection included 20 pieces, lots of them with the opulence and sophistication of laces. But not just one type of lace: chantilly, alencon, guipure; name your lace, however rare it might be, and it was there. Here are a few highlights:

Yesterday we told you that except for celebrities, bridal salon owners, and editors, brides can’t attend Bridal Market Week, mostly because the goal of these fashion presentations is for all of us to pick what we think is going to look good on you next year. Some of the pieces will never hit the stores, and some pieces will only appear at special events, such as trunk shows. Anyway, we just found out that Kleinfeld had a contest to allow 25 brides to attend the October 20 Henry and Michelle Roth runway show as VIPs. The theme of the collection is Love in Motion, which is very exciting! We look forward to meeting and chatting with those brides next week.

Unless you live under a rock, you must know about fashion week — the runway shows, the parties, the celebrities, models tripping on the runway. This Wednesday starts Bridal Fashion Week here in New York. Designers of wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses and accessories from all over the world are gathering to present their 2011 collections. Unfortunately, brides can’t attend. The shows are for press and bridal salon owners only. However, we have made our mission, as a team, to share with you our experience and skim through all the trends and dresses to find what we think will work for you.
So check out our blog daily for the next two weeks, and don’t hesitate to participate and comment!
